A documentary by Hans Heijnen

First they were the neighbours, then they became the enemy. The last veterans alive tell about the battle in Limburg during the German invasion, just before the capitulation on May 15th 1940.

The Dutch army was badly equipped and trained, and they were significantly outnumbered by the Germans. Despite these disadvantages for the Dutch, the German invasion happened less quickly then they had planned.

Next to the battle between David and Goliath, this documentary focuses on betraying a neighbour. The people living near the Dutch-German border used to have close relations, not in only in business, but also in friendship. This loyalty seems to have been damaged for ever.
